2 LotR fics [15 Jan 2007|04:27pm]

cupidsbow
Title: The One Rings's Diary
Author: lbilover
Fandom: LotR
Pairing: Frodo/Sam, various others implied
Rating: PG
Why you should read this: As the title implies, it's a crackfest based on the ring's emo rantings.

Title: The wraith of Mordor
Author: lobelia321
Fandom: LotR/Stargate: Atlantis
Pairing: None
Rating: PG-13
Why you should read this: This should really just be crack, but Lobelia's gorgeous use of language makes it something so much more.

Carnivale by loki_girl [09 Nov 2006|07:08am]

cupidsbow
Title: Carnivale: prologue, one, two, three, four
Author: loki_girl
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: EW/OB
Rating: M
Warning: Work in progress, AU
Why you should read this: Interesting circus AU, with the added twist that Elijah is not entirely human. I'm liking this a lot so far.

cupidsbow
Title: The Time Orlando Had Sex With Elijah
Author: sheldrake
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: EW/OB
Rating: PG-13
Why you should read this: Crack, crack, cracktacular crack, poking fun at all the AU Orlijah stories out there.

"They Say..." by absolutefiction [19 Oct 2006|10:11am]

cupidsbow
Title: They Say He Can Sleep Anywhere and Has the Sweatiest Feet
Author: absolutefiction
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: EW/OB implied
Rating: R
Why you should read this: I love the awkwardness of this brief character snapshop of Elijah; he's so young and so unsure of his own body's responses to those around him.

"Anomaly" by princess_cushla, "The Score" by montmorency [25 Sep 2006|06:06pm]

cupidsbow
Title: Anomaly
Author: princess_cushla
Fandom: LOTRIPS
Pairing: Viggo/Orlando, Elijah/Dom
Rating: PG-13, AU
Why you should read this: The Lotrips crew goes ghost hunting, and typically comical results ensue. This is charming.

Title: The Score
Author: montmorency
Fandom: LOTRIPS
Pairing: EW/OB
Rating: PG-13
Why you should read this: Do you remember the infamous shot of Billy sticking his finger in Orlando's belly button? Turns out Elijah has issues. Ah, Elijah. How I have missed your issues.

"Right Here" songvid by aranel80 [15 Sep 2006|12:37pm]

cupidsbow
Title: Right Here
Author: aranel80
Fandom: LOTRIPS
Pairing: Elijah/Orlando
Rating: PG-13
Why you should read this: This is a well-done constructed reality vid. By now, you've probably noticed that I have a particular fondness for this genre; I tend to like these kinds of vids no matter the fandom or characters or song. That said, what impressed me most about this vid is that the protagonists are never in the same source film! And yet the footage has been matched so well that the story told is not glaringly unbelievable. I really hope more songivds end up being made from multiple sources like this, because I really like it. The vid isn't permanently archived, but if you leave a comment with talesinbloom (who is hosting the vids) she will let you know when it's re-uploaded.

Multi-fandom challenge: Deja vu all over again [18 May 2006|04:14pm]

cupidsbow
The adorable vegetariansushi and I are running a multi-fandom Deja Vu challenge over on fandom_deja_vu.

It's going to be so cool: lots and lots of stories on the same theme! And you get to pick the themes, so go and vote on the poll for your favourites. The options include such classics as amnesia, body swapping, time travel, gender-swap, accidental marraige, clones, superheroes... and that's just the beginning.

*nudges you all*

You know you want to.

"Simple, Straight-Up, Disco-House Sugar" by jocondite [27 Apr 2006|10:12am]

cupidsbow
Title: Simple, Straight-Up, Disco-House Sugar
Author: jocondite
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: EW/OB
Rating: R
Why you should read this: Highly enjoyable riff on the undercover-in-a-gay-bar cliche.

Also worth a look is the first part of the Elíasar saga, or 'The Saga of Elijah' by misspince. It's just the setup so far, but the AU premise is unusual and interesting, especially if you like slave fics.

Title: Slut and Hooker

Title: Sugar-Coated
Author: padawanhilary
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: EW/OB
Rating: NC-17
Why you should read this: The first big fight of any relationship paves the way for what's to come, and this story shows that, warts, want, pain, misunderstandings, guilt and all.

Pimping RPS on crack_van [01 Feb 2006|02:34pm]

cupidsbow
Of general interest to real-person fiction fans: crack_van has posted a sign-up sheet for general real-person fiction recommendations (not-Lotrips, not-Popslash), which you can find here.

Sign up! Pimp your fandom! Support the van!

I'll be kicking off with Afflection in March, but no one has yet signed up for several of the other big rpf fandoms, such as Sportslash and Ewen-Hayden, or the Lotrips crossovers, such as BanaBloom.

Slashababy 05 [09 Jan 2006|03:22pm]

cupidsbow
I haven't read *all* of the slashababy stories, because there are some pairings I'm just not in to, no matter how well written. But these are my favourites of the stories I have read...

Title: Corners and Rhythms
Author: jocondite
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: Dom/Elijah, Elijah/Orlando, Orlando/Dom
Rating: R
Why you should read this: Hurting sex that isn't anywhere near as casual as the participants pretend it is.

Title: The Trouble with Rumnog
Author: shellies
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: Elijah/Orlando
Rating: PG
Why you should read this: Slightly schmoopy, but funny, Christmas Eve fic.

Title: Making It
Author: trianne
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: Orlando/Elijah
Rating: R
Why you should read this: Funny hooker AU.

Title: Drama Queens
Author: valerienne
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: Billy/Dom implied, various others
Rating: PG
Why you should read this: A tragi-comic AU, in which the cast are all, well, drama queens.

Title: Hindsight
Author: cupidsbow
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: Dom/Elijah
Rating: R
Why you should read this: I'm really not good at coming up with this stuff for my own stories. Bascially, Hindsight was a popular favourite amongst the slashababy readers, so this rec set would be artificially incomplete without it.

Title: Who is Watching the Watchers?
Author: chaosmanor
Fandom: Lotrips AU
Pairing: Sean Bean/Orlando Bloom
Rating: NC-17
Why you should read this: This is one of those stories that gives you a lot more than you expect for its length. It's a spy story, but not one from the James Bond oeuvre; instead, it reveals the everyday, unglamourous side of professional spying. That is delightful enough, but chaosmanor also works in a nicely-done reversal (you all know how much I love a good reversal). And what's not to love about the way she playfully subverts her reputation as a Viggorli writer? Then there's the sex scene, which is dirty and frantic and just not-perfect enough to feel real. I really enjoyed this story.

Various Orlijah, mainly from the first lotrips_fqf [16 Nov 2005|11:21am]

cupidsbow
We have an embarrassment of riches today...

Title: Give me a Word
Author: deleerium
Fandom: Lotrips AU
Pairing: EW/OB
Rating: Various
Why you should read this: deleerium posted a "give me a word" challenge the other day, and wrote a whole heap of glorious drabbles in response. All of them are worth a read, but my favourites are: tumnescent and scandalous, which go together; plus assimilate; and awkward.

Title: valentinstag
Author: v_greyson
Fandom: Lotrips AU
Pairing: EW/OB
Rating: PG-13
Why you should read this: Beautiful slices of life that merge together to form a bitter, melancholy, home-sick romance. Oh, it's so lovely.

Title: Lost and Found
Author: talesinbloom
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: EW/OB
Rating: NC-17
Why you should read this: Yes, this was written for the recent Lotrips Fuh-Q-Fest, and yes, it was written for me. *gloats* Stories like this are why I love Orlijah, because when this pairing is good, I invariably end up with a melted brain. After reading "Lost and Found"... well let's just say I have goo sloshing around inside my skull and leave it at that.

Title: Dreams of a Distant Sun
Author: cupidsbow
Fandom: Lotrips
Pairing: EW/OB
Rating: NC-17
Why you should read this: This is my entry for lotrips_fqf, and I'm unreasonably proud of it. Technically, it's the most accomplished story I've ever written, as it uses non-chron in a way that not only forwards the story, but echoes the plot. This probably isn't an easy story to read, and I make no claims as to whether it's a *good* story. But I'm reccing it here, because even though I'm the author, I can objectively say that this is a clever piece of science-fiction writing.
